American Society of Preventive Oncology (ASPO): 46th Annual Meeting Highlights

March 2022 brought the American Society of Preventive Oncology (ASPO) meeting to Tucson! Over 450 people attended and the University of Arizona and our Center were well-represented. Here are just a few highlights:

  • MEZCOPH’s own Dr. Felina Cordova-Marks not only served on the program planning committee, but also presented a symposium called Innovations in Patient Navigation and facilitated the Cancer Consortia: Exemplars, Challenges & Solutions workshop.
  • Dr. Purnima Madhivanan presented on cervical cancer screening in sexual and gender diverse populations during the Cancer Health Disparities paper session.
  • Dr. Cyndi Thomson, chair of the Lifestyle Behaviors Scientific Interest Group, moderated a session on lifestyle, energy balance, and chemoprevention that featured UA graduate, Sidney Donzella. 

Additionally, Sarah Freylersythe (Health Educator for the Cancer Center) submitted an abstract on the Altering Intake, Managing Symptoms (AIMS) study, sharing important findings from qualitative data analysis. Samantha Werts (see below), PhD student in Health Behavior Health Promotion and AzCPCRN researcher, presented her poster on the Vida Plena Photovoice project.
