Celebrating 10 Years of Healthy 2B Me Summer Camp

Healthy 2B Me Camp was back in person for Summer 2022 celebrating our 10th anniversary! This year, we returned to Primavera Foundation's Las Abuelitas Community Center in South Tucson to host two weeks of camp for children in the community, led by Nicole Falbo, UArizona interns (Tia Watson, Tricia Tran, Cheryl Nguyen), and volunteers (Tam Nguyen). Highlights included UArizona guest speakers, food demonstrations, an outdoor water balloon toss, and indoor hockey. Following camp, Las Abuelitas personnel continue to provide summer programming and activities for South Tucson youth until the after-school program begins in August.

After two years of pandemic operations, we enjoyed sharing a fun and educational camp experience with Tucson youth as well as our incredible academic and community partners - Primavera Foundation, UArizona nutrition experts, and the Skin Cancer Institute. For more information about Healthy 2B Me, please contact Nicole Falbo at nbergier@arizona.edu.
