Tips for solving conflict from the Growing Girls program

Back for it's 10th year, Growing Girls is a year-long after-school psychosocial intervention for 5th and 6th grade girls. Each year, UArizona Group Leaders facilitate a lesson called "Say What You Really Need to Say", sharing tips for solving conflict and a strategy called S.E.A.L. that promotes assertive communication. In this lesson, we remind participants that although conflict (or disagreement) is uncomfortable, it is unavoidable in all types of relationships; however, using a straightforward strategy when experiencing conflict can bring confidence and clarity to the resolution. Group Leader Tammy (Family Studies and Human Development) prepared two YouTube videos for participants as a review. Feel free to watch and share with your family!

We are currently offering the program in a hybrid format at Estes and Quail Run Elementary Schools (Marana, AZ), with some in-person meetings and some online. For more information about Growing Girls, please contact Lindsay Bingham, Health Educator Sr. (lbingham@arizona.edu).
